NEVILLE SET FOR INTER MIAMI JOB

Premier League icon David Beckham is the co-owner of Inter Miami in the MLS (Major League Soccer) and his club has announced the departure of manager Diego Alonso.

To this effect, Inter Miami are shopping for a new manager and ex-England international player Phil Neville has been strongly linked with the vacant managerial job at the new MLS outfit.

Phil Neville is no stranger to David Beckham after the two football figures played together for several years at Manchester United. Phil Neville and David Beckham were part of the famed class of ’92 at Manchester United. They were part of the Manchester United squad that won an unprecedented treble at the end of the 1998/99 season. Manchester United won the Premier League title, the FA Cup title and the Champions League trophy at the end of that campaign.

Phil Neville is set to leave his current job as the manager of the Lionesses of England thus paving the way for him to join Inter Miami if an agreement can be reached with the MLS outfit.

According to media outlet The 42, Phil Neville has already held preliminary discussions with Inter Miami over their managerial role and that the only obstacle to him taking over has now been removed after the club parted company with Uruguayan tactician Diego Alonso. Under Diego Alonso, Inter Miami finished 10th at the end of the regular season in the Eastern Conference of the MLS. It was their debut season in the MLS. Inter Miami were then eliminated at the play in round of the MLS Cup playoffs.

David Beckham and Phil Neville are co-owners of Salford City in the English League Two. Phil Neville will leave his England women national team role at the end of his contract in July and Sabrina Wiegmanhas already been named as his successor.
