BECKHAM WANTS PLAYER AT HIS CLUB
David Beckham is the co-owner of Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami and he's said to be interested in raiding his former club in the current January transfer window.
Recent reports claimed that David Beckham wants Manchester United shot stopper Sergio Romero to join Inter Miami ahead of the 2021 season in the MLS. The Athletic confirmed that David Beckham and Inter Miami want to sign Argentine international goalkeeper Sergio Romero who has fallen down the pecking order in the goalkeeping department at Manchester United.
Sergio Romero has not featured in the Manchester United squad this season as he has been frozen out of the team thus giving David Beckham the opportunity to secure his signature if talks with the player prove to be successful.
Sergio Romero started this season as the third choice goalkeeper behind David De Gea and the returning Dean Henderson but that third choice spot has been transferred to Lee Grant after his outburst when the Red Devils didn't sanction his move to fellow top four contender Everton. Sergio Romero has always been the second choice goalkeeper behind David De Gea since his free transfer move to the club from Italian top flight club Sampdoria in 2015 but that changed this summer with the return of England international Dean Henderson from a successful two-year loan spell at bottom Premier League outfit Sheffield United.
Everton had wanted to sign Sergio Romero from Manchester United but the move was blocked by the Red Devils at the start of the season and that led to the outburst from the shot stopper. Leeds United were also interested in him. David Beckham made 394 appearances for the Red Devils during his playing career and it's highly unlikely that the club will deny him if he requests to sign Sergio Romero this year. He has already signed Sergio Romero's former national team colleague Gonzalo Higuainfor Inter Miami.
