Beckham sets his sights on a head coach
Progress is being made towards the completion of David Beckham’s MLS team as the Englishman and his group of investors have recently acquired private land which is needed for a stadium in Overtown.
Miami Beckham United is the ownership group founded by the former Manchester United player which consists of David Beckham, his agent Simon Fuller as well as a number of investors and they released a statement which confirmed the acquisition which read: “The acquisitions open the door to MBU’s purchase of adjacent land required for development, now controlled by Miami-Dade County, at fair market value.”
The recently acquired land is in a site which is within walking distance of downtown Miami and can be easily reached by either rail or metro. They were reported to be in a bidding war with Vegas Casino Francais, who wanted to build a new multiplex casino and hotel on the site instead, but Beckham's connections helped smooth through a deal for the football team.
Now that this stadium issue is solved, Beckham is starting to look around for the person that is going to be in charge of the squad, the head coach and Roberto Carlos is the front runner of being selected.
David Beckham used to perform alongside Roberto Carlos back when they were Real Madrid players from 2003-2007.
Ever since Roberto Carlos decided to hang up his boots and retire from playing competitive football, he initiated a coaching career and has already taken charge of Sivasspor, Anzhi Makhachkala, Akhisar Belediyespor and Delhi Dynamos.
Unfortunately for Roberto Carlos, his coaching career has not been very fruitful as he resigned from a few of those clubs due to a string of poor results but it seems like David Beckham has faith in what Roberto Carlos can do as he is being viewed as the first person to take up the coaching role of David Beckham’s franchise which is expected to officially start competing in the MLS in 2018.
Roberto Carlos is currently performing a player-manager role for the Indian Super League club Delhi Dynamos but his time with the club might be reaching it’s end if Beckham is indeed interested in offering Carlos a managerial offer.
